Focus on....Polished Cast Iron

The elegant Galleon cast iron bath is our interpretation of the classic French Empire bath. Dating from the 1800s, the Empire bath was one of the first cast iron baths to be produced in volume. Our classic roll-top design features graceful curves, allowing the bather to recline in ultimate comfort. For a sleeker silhouette, we have added a fine cast iron plinth in place of the traditional claw feet. This gives the Galleon a more contemporary look, whilst still maintaining period charm.

Our hand-polished finish takes two days of dedicated work by our highly skilled craftsmen. Following a traditional casting process, the surface of the cast iron is polished with progressively finer abrasives, which smooth the surface of the metal. Once polished, the cast iron is then buffed using finer and softer compounds to give a brilliant high-shine finish. To protect the polished finish, the surface is treated with three coats of yacht varnish to prevent oxidation.

The inner surface of all of our cast iron baths is coated with vitreous enamel. This glass-based substance is baked onto the cast iron at incredibly high temperature. The result is a beautiful and extremely durable surface – baths manufactured over 100 years ago are still in use today.

Making a design statement

You may think that bathroom design is a bit limited, often with little space and basic choice of materials. However, these days the bathroom gives many ways to explore your style and express your personality.

Not only do you have a choice of bath styles, of colours, and thousands of tile finishes and patterns to choose from....now you can also choose the finish of your bath!

Hurlingham offer a choice of over 3000 colours alone, allowing you to either match your bath to your chosen scheme, or to create a complete statement or contrast. The tub is often the centrepiece to the bathroom so, instead of blending into the background, why not create a true focal point?

At Hurlingham, we offer a range of stunning free-standing baths which are beautiful in their own right. We also offer a range of genuine leather claddings, which can add that extra wow factor to your bath tub. Not only does the leather look fantastic, whether a plain colour or patterned finish, but it also adds a wonderful texture. We can cater for all tastes, and can order the textile to match your exact requirements - contact us for more details.

Hurlingham Explained

At Hurlingham, our quest is to offer a distinctive collection of original and classic reproduction free-standing baths, while creating individual refinements to add something truly momentous to the bathroom.

Our classic reproduction baths are inspired by designs of times past, but incorporate our own personal touches, leading to a unique range. With traditional cast iron, copper and brass baths available, there is something in our collection to suit all tastes and decor.

Our original cast iron baths are fully restored, and shot blasted to remove the old enamel before being re-enamelled using the genuine authentic vitreous enamelling process.

With a range of over 3000 paint colours available, along with a seemingly unlimited range of bespoke refinements, Hurlingham can offer you a truly unique and timeless design.
