The Montpellier! - Our New bath!

Hurlingham baths are proud to introduce to you our first Wooden Roll Top Bath – The Montpellier!

This stunning bath is made from solid Cast Iron, featuring a vitreous enamel interior, and the exterior can be painted in any paint colour you choose! Pictured here is the Montpellier painted in Farrow and Balls “Ball Blue Ground”.

The wooden roll top is a new feature for Hurlingham Baths, first used in the early 20th Century when people recognised the added comfort brought by the warming texture of the natural wood. Whilst the bath you see here features a solid dark, rich mahogany roll, you can choose to have a lighter toned oak, meaning you can match the colours to your existing bathroom décor.
This highly sophisticated Cast Iron bath also boasts an impressive depth, as well as having a charming shape and curves.

The Galleon in leather/fabric wrap – a bath with a difference

Having a highly decorative house can be great, a multitude of colours and interesting furniture can make your home stand out from the rest, but when it comes to bathrooms, it can be difficult to find baths to suit your décor… that is until now!

One of the most popular baths we sell is the leather/fabric wrapped Galleon, and it’s easy to see why when it comes in such a huge variety of different colours, patterns and textures.

A great example of a leather-wrapped bath is the zebra print Galleon. It is a traditional cast iron bath with empire curves and coated with leather! You may be thinking, surely the coating will get wet? We thought of that too! The unique roll edges ensures the least amount of water will come into contact with the sides of the bath, as well as the leather itself being treated with a durable water and stain repellent.

Another great example of one of our popular coated designs is the cow hide coated bath. This is truly unique, and you won’t see it anywhere else! This bath is recommended for the larger bathroom, where there is some degree of air movement, and is not recommended for use where it will be in constant contact with water, such as next to a shower.
Our unique range of bespoke finishes means you can dare to be different with your bathroom décor. We can coat a bath in anything from velvet to fur, and all of our baths come with a guarantee.

Focus on....Polished Cast Iron

The elegant Galleon cast iron bath is our interpretation of the classic French Empire bath. Dating from the 1800s, the Empire bath was one of the first cast iron baths to be produced in volume. Our classic roll-top design features graceful curves, allowing the bather to recline in ultimate comfort. For a sleeker silhouette, we have added a fine cast iron plinth in place of the traditional claw feet. This gives the Galleon a more contemporary look, whilst still maintaining period charm.

Our hand-polished finish takes two days of dedicated work by our highly skilled craftsmen. Following a traditional casting process, the surface of the cast iron is polished with progressively finer abrasives, which smooth the surface of the metal. Once polished, the cast iron is then buffed using finer and softer compounds to give a brilliant high-shine finish. To protect the polished finish, the surface is treated with three coats of yacht varnish to prevent oxidation.

The inner surface of all of our cast iron baths is coated with vitreous enamel. This glass-based substance is baked onto the cast iron at incredibly high temperature. The result is a beautiful and extremely durable surface – baths manufactured over 100 years ago are still in use today.

Making a design statement

You may think that bathroom design is a bit limited, often with little space and basic choice of materials. However, these days the bathroom gives many ways to explore your style and express your personality.

Not only do you have a choice of bath styles, of colours, and thousands of tile finishes and patterns to choose from....now you can also choose the finish of your bath!

Hurlingham offer a choice of over 3000 colours alone, allowing you to either match your bath to your chosen scheme, or to create a complete statement or contrast. The tub is often the centrepiece to the bathroom so, instead of blending into the background, why not create a true focal point?

At Hurlingham, we offer a range of stunning free-standing baths which are beautiful in their own right. We also offer a range of genuine leather claddings, which can add that extra wow factor to your bath tub. Not only does the leather look fantastic, whether a plain colour or patterned finish, but it also adds a wonderful texture. We can cater for all tastes, and can order the textile to match your exact requirements - contact us for more details.
